TriMet's Portland Transit Mall Redevelopment Project, scheduled to begin construction in early 2007, will become an integral part of a region-wide strategy to expand high quality transit options. Mr. Hastings' presentation will focus on how strong community involvement influenced the design focus and when completed, will create transportation options unique to the region. Along with the process used to shape the Transit Mall Redevelopment will be a presentation of how both practical and innovative graphic tools, such as 3-D video, CAC meetings, strip mapping, Design Review processes, and Urban Design Framework Plan w/ PBOP were used to enhance and add excitement to design solution presentations.
Biography
Mr. Robert Hastings is a registered Architect in the State of Oregon, received his Bachelor of Architecture, from the University of Oregon, and his Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Bob has been past President, AIA/Portland Chapter, past President, AIA/Oregon Chapter, and is current Chair of the Oregon's biennial Design Conference. Bob has worked as a professional in the field for 26 years, with the last 6 years as architect for TriMet, the Portland metropolitan region's transit agency.

Michael Prothe, AIA, CSI <> Portland Development Commission, After 20 years in architectural practice in Portland, Oregon, Michael Prothe joined the Portland Development Commission as their in-house architect. His professional focus has been in mixed-use development and Green Architecture.
Learn about the Port of Portland's mission, its economic impact to the region, and its role in the transportation industry. There is a significant capital improvement program about to be undertaken by the Port. This capital program includes improvements both to the Port's facilities as well as the transportation infrastructure that support the Port's facilities. Learn how these projects will impact commerce and transportation.
Biography
Tom Peterson received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Portland State University in1976, and has been with the Port of Portland for more than 20 years. Tom is Chief Engineer, Engineering Services at the Port of Portland, where he manages the Port of Portland's engineering and navigation departments. Tom is responsible for professional engineering, technical and dredging resources required
