Education 4A “Advanced Optical Day-lighting Systems”   
Dr. Neall Diget

Learn about the latest advanced optical day-lighting technology, and a new product category, the tubular day-lighting device (TDD). After a brief overview of typical day-lighting, key energy strategies, and human performance based reasons for day-lighting today's buildings, you will be introduced to the four major Components that are common to every TDD. Commercially available component technologies will be compared and contrasted, allowing the designer to make informed decisions when choosing the appropriate TDD technology for their application.

Biography

Neall Digert, Ph.D., MIES, Director of Commercial Market Development for Solatube International, Inc., has been involved in the building energy engineering and energy research field for over twenty years. Neall possesses a unique technical background in optical day-lighting systems, architectural day-lighting solutions, and advanced energy and lighting strategies.


Education 4B “Creating Green Office Practices”   
Ms. Margie Crocker, SDA, LEED™ AP

Some concepts in Green Office practices are common sense, while others bloom through sharing ideas, opinions and scenarios. Margie will share basic practices and procedures, as well as share Green Library schemes and other sustainable initiatives designed to aid in Green day-to-day practices. Learning Objectives include:
o Learning simple ways of eliminating large amounts of waste, and conservation measures.
o Gaining educational avenues allowing further research into products, programs, and articles to assist in becoming greener.
o Receiving and understanding schemes on supply and library areas, and how to encourage green input, output and creativity.
o Becoming aware of ways to help institutions, business firms, homes, environments, communities and the world through specific day to day voluntary acts of sustainability.

Biography

Ms. Margie Crocker, SDA is Human resources/ Operation Manager for Yost Grube Hall Architecture. Margie has worked in the A/E industry for 13 years, in both the architectural and engineering arenas. Responsibilities and experience include officer manager, marketing, human resources, administrative assistance, and bookkeeping. She is happily employed at Yost Grube Hall Architecture as Operations Manager / Human Resources.

She has been actively involved with SDA for five years, having served as Corresponding Secretary, President-Elect, President, Past President and Vice President for the Portland SDA Chapter. Nationally, she has served on the Awards Committee for 2 years, one year as Chairperson, and as Binders & Materials Chair for 2004 SDA National Conference in Chicago. Professional interests include CANSTRUCTION® and Habitat for Humanity, and an array of community services involving community, environment and education.

Danita Hammond

Biography

After graduating from Central Washington University in Ellensburg, with a degree in Public Health Education Danita Hammond took a position with the Lincoln County Health Department as the Public Health Educator. Through her job she speaks to large and small groups on topics ranging from recognizing the hero's in your life, to quitting tobacco and healthy lifestyle changes. Before college, Danita spent a year traveling through Europe living with local families and learning different cultures. This experience gave her new views on world and life. The saying “I am not the same having seen the other side of the world” rings true for her. However she still calls Washington her home, having lived in several different areas of the state, and finds challenge and meaningful focus in balancing work, life and community service.
